Hurricane Disaster Relief
On September 27, 2024, heavy rain from Hurricane Helene caused the Nolichucky River in East Tennessee to flood, tearing down roads and bridges, breaching dams, leaving thousands without essential utilities, homes and property lost, and people missing or dead. Homes, businesses, farms, and schools were inundated with mud, roads were unpassable even on foot. CCE has connected with the Embreeville Church of Christ, located in Unicoi County, one of the hardest hit areas. We contribute to their hurricane fund which, over the past year, has helped this church coordinate recovery and rebuilding efforts within their community.
Prayer request: Praise that the small hospital that serves Unicoi County (where Embreeville is located) that was destroyed in the flooding will be rebuilt. Pray for those in that community who are still waiting to rebuild homes and for the farmers who are working to bring their land back to life after the floods deposited sand, debris and possible toxic waste in the fields.
