Thursday. Pray. Read Matthew 20:20-28. This story unfolds just before Palm Sunday. Right after Jesus predicts His death and resurrection – for the third time – this:
Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him for something. 21 And he said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Say that these two sons of mine are to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.” – Matthew 20:20-21
It is a picture of the desire for power and status. Power and status belong to Jesus alone. Do you desire power for yourself? Ask the Lord to show you where you are trying to take from Him rather than to give.
