Good morning!
Text:  Acts 4-6; Proverbs 10:1-16
In Acts 5, we read of the apostles’ arrest and detention.  They are brought before the ruling council where they boldly speak of Jesus and the resurrection.  The council is enraged, but one member, Gamaliel, suggests a passive approach:

“So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” (Acts 5:38-39)

I don’t know about you, but when I am dealing with a problem, I cannot imagine letting it go.  That saying, “Just don’t sit there, do something,” is deeply ingrained in my personality.  Gamaliel’s suggestion speaks volumes to my heart about this.  His words say, “So, why do you think everything rests on your shoulders?  Is God somehow not up to dealing with matters?  So… who, exactly, do you think you are?”
Whenever there is trouble, we can trust the Lord to be at work.  We may be called to act, but not necessarily.  And if we do act and get it wrong, all is not lost.  God is sovereign and He is always able to take care of business.  It is good and wise to slow down and seek His face in prayer, trusting the outcomes to the Lord.
in Him, Mike
