Good morning!

Today is a reflection day.
A decade ago I spoke with a friend I met swimming at the YMCA.  It was this time of year.  He had lost his wife to cancer back on that Thanksgiving day and had been struggling greatly with his grief.  He was not a believer.  He shared with me that he went to church on that Easter morning, and heard something that brought him the first light of hope. It was the word of the angels to the women at Jesus’ empty tomb:

“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.” (Luke 24:5-6)

Jesus is alive.  We do not find Him among the spiritually dead, but rather among those who are spiritually alive – those who are born again.  My friend’s name is Peter.  I had been speaking to him about the Lord for several years.  Boy was I excited.  The fact that God’s Word was speaking to him said that the Lord was quickening Peter’s heart.  The message of Jesus is indeed the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes (Romans 1:16).  Peter and I have lost touch, but I am reminded to pray for Him to know Jesus.  Maybe there are Peters in your life.  Pray for God’s awakening in their hearts, too.
in Him, Mike
