Good morning!
Text: Exodus 15-17; Proverbs 1
There is much to absorb in today’s Scriptures. The patch that grabbed my attention is the account of the first battle for the nation of Israel in Exodus 17. It is of note that Joshua (Moses’ young aide) is the military commander – a role that he will have as Israel’s overall leader forty years later when they finally get to the Promised Land. In 17:11, it says that “whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed…” Moses’ raised arms are invoking and acknowledging the presence of God. In 17:12;
“But Moses’ hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and the other on the other side.”
The Lord is winning the battle, as the men are serving Him by serving one another.
Have you ever been weary in your service of the Lord? Maybe it was in your role as a spouse or a parent, perhaps as an employee or a friend, or maybe s a Bible teacher or prayer warrior. Did a brother or sister in Christ bring you help and refreshment? Moses had Aaron and Hur to help him when he became weary. We need one another, and together we can win the battles the Lord calls us to. I am so grateful for the men and women of our church family who come alongside.
Is there someone near you who seems fatigued at what the Lord has called him or her to do? Maybe the LORD is calling you or me to come alongside and hold up someone’s weary arms that the victory might be won. Maybe you are the exhausted one. Is the Lord is telling you that is time to ask for help?
in Him, Mike
