Good morning!
Text: Jeremiah 16-18; Isaiah 16
Jeremiah 17:9 is important, and explains an awful lot about our human nature:
“The heart is deceitful above all things, anddesperately sick; who can understand it?”
We need this powerful truth in our lives. Our heart, our inmost self, is a dangerous liar, and a villain rife with sickness. The person who trusts their feelings, their “true self”, is a fool and headed for trouble and destruction. Thanks be to God for the gift of Jesus and with Him a new heart. When we have the Holy Spirit – which we do if we have Jesus – and choose to follow Him instead of our own heart, we can have the truth we need. This verse reminds us of why we must never trust ourselves – but always trust Jesus.
in Him, Mike
