Good morning!
Today is a reflection day.
When David faces Goliath, the giant threatens him, to which he replies:
“You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” (1 Samuel 17:45)
That is pretty bold for a teenager armed only with a slingshot. David’s boldness is grounded in his knowledge of God. David knows that all those who defy God go down to defeat. He knows that God always wins. And so David claims victory in “the name of the Lord of hosts.” Instead of comparing himself to Goliath, David compares Goliath to the Lord. And Goliath looks puny.
Are you facing a “giant” today? If so, what is your perspective? Is God fully in view that you might see how small your giant is in comparison? Whatever your giant may be, bring God into view. Come and worship Him this Lord’s day, pray to Him, meditate upon His greatness, read a Psalm or two aloud. And be bold as you claim victory.
in Him, Mike
