Good morning!

Text: Exodus 28-31; Proverbs 5
The Lord gives a lot of detailed instructions for the construction and operation of the Tabernacle, the mobile worship center for the Israelites. He details out the costume for the high priest.  Included are these words:

“You shall make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet, ‘Holy to the Lord.’  And you shall fasten it on the turban by a cord of blue. It shall be on the front of the turban.” (Exodus 28:36-37)

“Holy to the Lord”, it says on the front of the priest’s hat.  That word, “Holy” means “set apart,” and also “pure.”  The image of having a hat with those wordson it gets my attention.  Imagine having a label for all to see that says, “I am set apart for God, and He has called me to live a pure life.”  Your friends would see and read the hat, and the folks at the grocery store and at work or school.  Imagine the mocking you might get.  Imagine the responsibility as far as your behavior and your words.  Imagining is not enough, though, because these words are true of me and you if we are in Christ Jesus.  He has made us Holy by His blood shed for us.  God has set us apart for His plans and purposes.  And He calls us all to pure living. I think it’s time to get a hat made so that I might feel the weight of the reality of being “Holy to the Lord.”
