Good morning!
Text: Revelation 9-10; Isaiah 60
Yesterday marked the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. Today, there will be a wee bit more daylight. I like that trend! When Jesus returns and ushers in His Kingdom, His light will blaze. In the meantime, He has told us that we are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). Isaiah 60 speaks of how God’s light will shine upon and through us. Consider these words:
The sun shall be no more
your light by day,
nor for brightness shall the moon
give you light;
but the Lord will be your everlasting light,
and your God will be your glory. (Isaiah 60:19)
It has been a thrill to see the people of God shine this Christmas season as we have worshiped together, blessed others, caroled, and given gifts. These last few days before Christmas will be busy for me. It may be hectic and crowded with people and tasks, which may test me just a touch. In it all, may Jesus shine through me this day, and also through you. And may we all remember that Jesus is the one who is truly the light of the world. Amen.
in Him, Mike
