Good morning!
Text: Zechariah 10-12; Isaiah 52
These Old Testament prophets bring glorious words of promise. It is presently the season of Advent – the time of preparation and anticipation of Jesus; first coming. It is the time when old memories of Christmases of childhood can bring up new yearnings for the Lord. It is the season where we have many opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus. Isaiah 52:7 is a delight to encounter this day
How beautiful upon the mountainsare the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
So many people around us are suffering. There is sickness, sorrow, guilt and shame. There is loneliness and there is captivity to destructive behaviors. There is violence and fear, discord, anxiety and death. And, then, there is Good News! The Prince of Peace has come. The joy of the world has come. The savior – who delivers us from darkness to light, from death to life, and from pain to joy – He has indeed come. “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news.” May our lips proclaim the wonders of Jesus this season, and may our lives adorn His Gospel as we go about our days. “Joy to the world, the Lord has come!”
