Good morning!
Text: Daniel 10-12; Psalm 146
Having prayed for insight (Chapter 9), Daniel waits, mourns and fasts for three weeks without an answer. Then, with a vision of an amazing man, the Lord’s messenger, an angel, arrives.
…he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come.” (Daniel 10:12-14)
It took three weeks for Daniel to receive the answer to his prayers. But God heard from the moment he began to pray. The three weeks’ wait was because of spiritual battle between the angel and the demon (“prince” in Persia). This reminds us that there is an unseen world, and that spiritual battles are raging all around us. That’s something to think about the next time you pray.
in Him, Mike.
