Good morning!
Text: 2 Kings 19-21; Psalm 90
Toward the end of King Hezekiah’s life, he shows envoys from Babylon the temple treasure. Alarmed, Isaiah tells Hezekiah that they will be back and take what they saw, and they will take away people, including some of Hezekiah’s own sons. I find Hezekiah’s response a little unsettling;
Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the Lord that you have spoken is good.” For he thought, “Why not, if there will be peace and security in my days?”” (2 Kings 20:19).
It seems to me that we ought to be concerned not only for our own generation, but for those who will follow. That said, how are we doing? Are we concerned about young people in the church and in the culture around us? Are we willing to sacrifice our own comfort for them? Are we doing all we can so that fifty years from now (unless Jesus returns), our church will be stronger than it is today? Some things to consider and take to prayer.
in Him, Mike
