Text: Titus; Isaiah 10
One of the delights of daily Bible reading is that sometimes a verse or a phrase speaks fresh truth into our lives. In today’s reading, these words, written to Titus for slaves, spoke to me:
…so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. (Titus 2:10)
What a thought! In our lives, even in the meanest of circumstances, we are always to “adorn” the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are to make the truth of Jesus – who He is, how much He loves us, His sacrifice and His resurrection power – we are to make that truth beautiful. Like ornaments on a Christmas tree we are to make the Good News sparkle and glisten. Like jewels worn by a bride we are to draw attention to our Lord Jesus. “In everything”, it says. It seems to me that this would be a good subject for prayer at the start of each day.
