Good morning!
Text: 1 Samuel 29-31; Proverbs 29:1-14
In 1 Samuel 30 there is the account of how, while David and his men are out in the field, the Amalekites sack their stronghold, Ziklag, and take their women and children captive.  When David and the men return to Ziklag, the scene is bleak:
And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. (1 Samuel 30:6)

Sometimes we face circumstances where we need help, but human help will not do.  Sometimes we find ourselves all alone in the world, feeling alone and friendless.  “But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.”  No matter how dark the day, we can always find hope in the Lord.  No matter how weak and forlorn we feel, He is our rock and our fortress.  He is the strong tower we can run to.  Praise the Lord for His strength and His strengthening – He is always with us.

Oh, and the rest of the story of David has him seeking the Lord for direction, leading the men to go after their families, and a successful rescue.  God is Good!

in Him, Mike
