Good morning!
Today is a reflection day.
Mark 4 is a chapter of teaching. Jesus tells a series of parables which show how the Kingdom of God is like growing plants. He speaks of sowing, planting, and growth. The chapter concludes with a living “parable”, if you will. Jesus takes the disciples on a boat trip and then proceeds to grow their faith by raising a scary storm and then calming it with a single command. Consider these words:
And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!”And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” (Mark 4:39-41)
When we think of Jesus, do we think of Him as powerful enough to evoke fear? He is. Do we see Him as powerful enough to actually command miracles? He is. Do we see Him as powerful enough to meet any need we have or defeat any foe set against us? He is. The words, “Jesus is Lord” means that even the wind and the sea – and everything else – will obey Him. Believe it!
