Good morning!

Text:  Ezekiel 27-30; Psalm 127

As I read Psalm 127, I am reminded how incredibly blessed we are to be surrounded by immediate family and church “family” whose lives are centered on the Lord.  He gives our lives foundation, meaning and purpose.  His Word gives us truth and insight the world cannot offer.  When difficult times come, we can have peace.  The Psalm opens with these words:

Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.

When we are surrendered to Him, living each and every day in humble obedience, He does the work of building our lives and families.  When we try to do it for Him or without Him, we “labor in vain.”  To do something in vain means the work, the investment will come to nothing – it is a waste of time.  When we fret and worry and try to protect our lives in our own strength, that, too is vanity.  But when we trust the Lord with the work of  the “building” in our families and community, He does amazing things.

Praise the Lord – He builds our families and watches over us. Our job is to let Him.    in Him,  Mike
