Good morning!
Text: 1 Peter 1-3; Isaiah 33.
1 Peter, written to a group of churches in a region coming under increasing hostility to the Gospel, has much to say to us today. We are called to fully embrace life in Christ as it makes us different from the world.
…as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15-16)
To be holy is to be set apart for God. For us to be holy is to have decoupled our lives from the will and way of the world, and to be given over fully to the Lord. To be holy also means to be pure. We are, together in the body of Christ, called to purity. We are to turn from all those things that would defile, and we are to confess all our sins to the Lord that He might cleanse us from all unrighteousness. A life that is separate and is committed to purity seems a tall order, and it is. But Jesus has washed us by His blood, and He has given us the freedom to choose not to sin. So… is there anything in your life that needs to change in light of this Word?
in Him, Mike
