Good morning!
Text: Jeremiah 25-27; Isaiah 19
Jeremiah writes terrifying prophetic words about the impending reign of Babylon over Judah. Jerusalem and the temple will be destroyed, the people taken into captivity. The advice is given to submit to Babylon’s king, Nebuchadnezzar. A bleak seventy years lies just ahead – the harsh consequences of the nation of Judah’s own sin. But God is always a God of promise. On the other side of sorrow, pain and tribulation there is always hope for God’s own beloved people.
thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left in the house of the Lord, in the house of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem: They shall be carried to Babylon and remain there until the day when I visit them, declares the Lord. Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place.” (Jeremiah 27:21-22).
For those whom God has chosen and loves, the night is always temporary. Are you in a dark passage right now? On the other side there is always restoration for those who are in Christ Jesus.
in Him, Mike
