Good morning!
Text: Job 40-42; Isaiah 9
Today is a Scripture bonanza! Job’s story is resolved, and Jesus is prophesied in Isaiah 9. Wow!
The resolution of Job is swift and clear. After the Lord reveals to Job His sovereignty in all things and His exceptional power, Job wisely decides to simply repent. He says these words:
“I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear,but now my eye sees you…”
This is huge. It is through Job’s sufferings, his painful thoughts and questions that he goes from a superficial knowledge of God to “seeing” Him. Jesus said, “… this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3). The note in my study Bible says this: “Unmerited tragedy helps us see God, which is unmerited grace.”
It is in our pain that God most clearly speaks. It is in our difficult passages that we learn who He is. It is in our greatest times of struggle that we discover that He is very real – a Living God. When we find Him in this way, the questions of “why” no longer matter. It is enough to know that God is completely in control and that His love for us is steadfast and unchanging,.
