Good morning!

Text:  Esther 1-3; Psalm 119:81-96
Even reading a familiar story in the Bible can bring us new truth.  In today’s reading from Esther, this verse caught my attention:

Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom. Their laws are different from those of every other people, and they do not keep the king’s laws, so that it is not to the king’s profit to tolerate them. (Esther 3:8)

The malevolent Haman here is referring to the Jews, and he highlights the fact that, “Their laws are different from those of every other people.”  Indeed, the Lord gave the Jews special instructions for life that would make them odd.  He wanted them to stand out as a beacon pointing the world toward their great and good God.  This is also true for you and me.  Living as Jesus calls us to live should make it obvious to the world around us that we are different – different because of Jesus.  So, here is a challenge.  Is it obvious to others that we march to a different drummer?
