Good morning!

Today is a reflection day.
The Old Testament history we read in 2 Chronicles tells the tales of kings who cycle between good and evil.  If we were to chart their pattern, we would see an up-and-down line that trends steadily downward, deeper into sins like idolatry, greed and injustice. When we meet the “good” kings, it is always refreshing.  King Asa is such a king:
And Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord… (2 Chronicles 14:2).
After victories and reforms, at the end of his life, we find these words:

“But the high places were not taken out of Israel. Nevertheless, the heart of Asa was wholly true all his days.” (15:17)

Asa dd not get it all done, but his heart remained steadfast.  These words remind us that when all is said and done, the measure will not be our accomplishments but rather the ongoing condition of our hearts.  This is the work of daily devotion to God – to keep our hearts inclined toward Him, one day at a time.  Just imagine the Kingdom fruit that will come when we string a lifetime of such days together
