Good morning!
Text: Exodus 25-27; Proverbs 4
Many people who set out to read through the Bible find all the storytelling and action up to this point pretty interesting. Then, there come passages like Exodus 25-27 – where there is an awful lot of what might seem to be tedious detail. In 25:9, the Lord tells the Israelites:
Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it. (Exodus 25:9)
Whenever we come across a perplexing text (we will encounter more as we continue to read) it is good to ask the question about the big picture – “Why is this here?” God wants His people to worship Him His way, and He wants His worship space to be just so. He gives many details – and they all matter to the Lord.
Why all these details? Ever see a picture or a model of the double helix structure of a DNA molecule? The code God wrote for life is incredibly detailed, and is personalized for each individual so that you are you and I am me. Now, just imagine where we would be if our God was not a God of the details. For me, what I get from all these details included in the Bible is that we have a God who intends for things to be “just so.” And, He calls us as His people to attend to the details in our lives with that in mind.
Amen!
in Him, Mike
