Good morning!
Text: Genesis 24-26; Psalm 9
The covenant promise God made to Abraham is passed on to his son Isaac. When the Lord appears to Isaac to reaffirm the promise, he says these words:
“…I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring
all these lands. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.” (Genesis 26:4-5)
A major precept we see in the Old Testament is that God blesses obedience. Obedience (works) cannot earn salvation, that comes when we believe. Recall Genesis 15:6 which says that Abram “believed the Lord , and he counted it to him as righteousness.” After Abram came to believe God, he walked in obedience. For those who are His, obedience opens the gates of blessing. Want to be blessed by God? Learn His commandments, His Word, and simply obey.
