Text: Job 19-21; Isaiah 2
The events in Job are from around the time of Abraham, and the book is believed by some scholars to have been written well before Moses penned Genesis. That would mean that Job is perhaps the oldest literature in the Bible. That said, it contains a remarkable passage that speaks of the end of things, and the fact that our Redeemer, Jesus, will stand upon the earth at that time, and those who belong to God will see Him, face-to-face. This passage is considered by many to be the most memorable in Job, and is found in 19:25-27:
For I know that my Redeemer lives,
and at the last he will stand upon the earth.
And after my skin has been thus destroyed,
yet in my flesh I shall see God,
whom I shall see for myself,
and my eyes shall behold, and not another.
My heart faints within me!
