Text: 1 Chronicle 27-29; Song of Songs 5
These closing chapters of 1 Chronicles are rich with grandeur. There are also more of the lists of names characteristic of this book of the Bible. Notice 27:30;
Over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite; and over the donkeys was Jehdeiah the Meronothite. Over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite.
That these names are in Scripture – men in charge of camels, donkeys and flocks – remind us that we all have assignments from the Lord, that our responsibilities matter, and that we matter to Him. What has God given to me, and me alone, to care for this day? My family? My co-workers? My neighbors? My church family members? Whatever it is, it is ours in sacred trust. We are called to do our very best for the Lord with it. And know that, whatever it is, it matters to the Lord and His Kingdom.
