Good morning!

Text: 1 Chronicles 15-17; Song of Solomon 1
When King David brings the ark of the covenant into Jerusalem, it creates quite a lot of excitement.  There is worship, music, shouting for joy, and feasting.  They celebrate because the ark – the very presence of the Living God – is in their very midst.  David appoints that thanksgiving be sung – and 1 Chronicles 16 contains the words of the song.  Included are these words:

 Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually!

In a way, I am envious for the moment being described, where God’s people are over the moon with excitement because God’s very presence is among them. That is because, as believers in Jesus and by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, you and I have God’s very presence right in our midst.  I long for the excitement to burst forth among us.  I yearn for the Sunday morning where we get all worked up because Jesus is alive!  He is Emmanuel – God With Us!  And He is in our midst, right here, right now.  Makes me want to sing and dance and shout.  Will you join me?
in Him, Mike
