Good morning!

Text: 1 Chronicles 5-8; Ecclesiastes 10
These passages in 1 Chronicles are filled with so many lists of names.  As I read them, I come across some that are familiar like Joshua, God’s great general that led the Israelites in their conquest of the promised land, Caleb, the mighty and faithful man that started strong and finished strong too, and Uzza, the man who lost his life steadying the ark as it wobbled on an ox cart.  However, most of the names are obscure  But they are there for several reasons.  First, they establish the lineage that proves that God fulfills His promise to create a chosen people all descended from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  Further, they remind us that God’s plan includes people – lots of them – real people – including you and me.  Finally, consider this.  When we read these names, we recognize only a few.  But our great God knows every detail about every one of us.
Praise God!  He has your name written in His Book, the Lamb’s Book of Life.
in Him, Mike
