Text: Colossians; Psalm 77
The Book of Colossians is a tight package of teaching about our life in Jesus. The first half speaks to Him and how we are related to Him, and the second half speaks to how we ought to live. It is filled with gems. Here is one:
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17)
Think on this a minute. “Whatever” we do means everything we say and do, and here we are commanded to do it all in the Name of Jesus. That means we do it by His authority, and we do it as His representatives. We are also told here to do “whatever we do” with thanksgiving.
So, think of all that you might do today – at work, at home, at school, at play. Mow the grass in the Name of Jesus? Yes. Take a shower in the Name of Jesus? Yes? Respond to a telemarketing call in the Name of Jesus? Yes. With thanksgiving? Yes. Wow.
