A beautiful couplet appears in Psalm 85:10-11.
10 Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;righteousness and peace kiss each other.11 Faithfulness springs up from the ground,and righteousness looks down from the sky.
The unconditional love of God and His perfect promise come together in Jesus. His perfect righteousness and peace come together and kiss at the cross. I have an image in my head of the two mighty hands of God coming together so there is no gap between them… and what gets squeezed out is evil and death. Then Jesus “springs up from the ground” and God’s beloved receive righteousness from heaven. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says this:
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
