Good morning!

Text: 2 Kings 1-4; Psalm 86

In the opening chapters of 2 Kings we read of the miracle-rich ministry of Elisha, Elija’s protege. It makes me long for such a season in today’s world – one where the Lord puts His power and goodness on display.  One miracle involves the death of a Shunammite woman’s son.  He gets a splitting headache and dies.  She tells her servant to get her a donkey so she may ride to fetch Elisha.  When the servant asks her why she might go after Elisha, her answer is odd:

And he said, “Why will you go to him today? It is neither new moon nor Sabbath.” She said, “All is well.”  (2 Kings 4:23)

Given that her beloved son has just died, what a strange thing to say.  She clearly has every confidence that a miracle of God can be had, and can revive her son.  In fact, that is what happens.
For us, today, do we believe God can do miracles?   Do we believe the Lord can and will deal with our greatest challenges?  Do we have such faith?  If a crisis comes, will the message of our heart be, “All is well”?
