Good morning!

Text:  1 Kings 20-22; Psalm 83
King Ahab is a bad guy.  Before is final battle with the Syrians, the prophet Micaiah challenges the consensus of Ahab’s court prophets ( a bunch of “yes men”).  Micaiah tells Ahab,
The Lord has declared disaster for you. (1 Kings 22:23)
When the battle begins, the king of Syria gives orders to his men to only target King Ahab, but Ahab is in disguise.  Ahab gets shot anyway:
But a certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel between the scale armor and the breastplate.  (1 Kings 22:34)
The text says the man shot “at random”, but it is clear that the will of God was being done.  “Random” or “chance” events only seem that way to us.  Our God is sovereign over all things, great and small.  And our great God can overcome any clever ruse or scheme of man in order to accomplish His plan.  When we think about this, there are two conclusions.  First, God is to be feared – never stand in defiance of God.  And second, He can be trusted – He is always able to do what He has promised.
in Him, Mike
