Good morning!
Text: Judges 19-21; Proverbs 19:15-29
While we have been reading the wild stories of Judges, we have also been taking in Proverbs. The Book of Proverbs contains many bite-sized pieces of wisdom. Every verse is worthy of careful contemplation and life application. Today, these words captured my thoughts:
Listen to advice and accept instruction,
that you may gain wisdom in the future. (Proverbs 19:20)
Far to often, I am comfortable making decisions on my own. Much of the time, I assume I am competent in what I am doing. But the Lord has surrounded me with brothers and sisters in Christ who have different and often greater experience than I do. The words of this proverb need to be in my heart. On my desk I have a slip of paper. Written on it are these words: “sometimes you’re wrong.” I need to take a hold of that truth that I might seek advice and actually accept instruction from others. “Lord, help me to be humble and do these things that I might gain your wisdom. Amen.”
in Him, Mike
