Good morning!
Text: Ephesians 1-3; Proverbs 23:19-35
Ephesians 3 ends with a lofty expression of praise for the Lord:
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
What are our expectations? What do we imagine the Lord can do? These words lift us up, up, up above anything we can dream of. The words “more abundantly” seem large, and they are translated from words that mean super, over-the-top, exceedingly overflowing. They are words that describe a capacity that we would want to WRITE IN ALL CAPS and add a bunch of exclamation marks!!!
God’s plans and abilities are so far beyond us. We can and should expect grand and wonderful things from Him. He has placed His power in us (the Holy Spirit) so that His amazing capacities can actually work in us. The things He does can transcend our lifetime, lasting into all the generations to come. We are able to display the glory of the Living God, glory that is “forever and ever.”
So… what is holding us back today? Nothing that he cannot overcome.
in Him, Mike
