Good morning!
Today is a reflection day.
Psalm 51 is a beautiful psalm of God’s merciful forgiveness. It was written following David’s adultery with Bathsheba and murder of her husband Uriah. David confesses his sin to the Lord and pleas for restoration:
Create in me a clean heart, O God,and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)
When we sin, we are defiled. We suffer feelings of guilt and experience distance from God. It is unpleasant to say the least. These wonderful words point us toward the refreshing restoration God has for us. A clean heart. A right spirit. Like a fresh breath of a spring breeze or a cool drink on a hot day. Like a hot shower after a dirty day’s work and then the smell of freshly laundered bed sheets. No matter how awful the sin, those who turn to the Lord for forgiveness will receive it. Have you been struggling with some sin? Turn to Him and be cleansed and renewed. This is the promise of God.
in Him, Mike
