Good morning!
Today is a reflection day.
Consider the words of Jeremiah 4:3…
Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns…
“Fallow ground” is land that has not been cultivated for a season or more – a way to give the soil rest. The topmost part is thick and hard – the thatch of weeds beaten down under the snow, the clay in the soil hardened and compressed. It is like the hard shell on our hearts when we have had a season apart from God. “Break up your fallow ground” writes the Prophet. When it is time to plant and get back into growing things, the soil must be plowed. The blade of confession, the softening of tears, the working of the soil of our hearts makes way for a fresh fall of the good seed – the Word of God. And when you have sown, stay out of the thorns.
