Good morning!
Today is a reflection day.
Our Bible reading schedule gets through the entire Book in a year. The plan has “reflection days” which allow us to get caught up, and also to pause and reflect on what we have just read. As I read each day, I underline passages that speak to me. Part of my reflection time is to skim recent readings and revisit the underlined material. Today, Psalm 69:9 caught my heart:
“For zeal for your house has consumed me…”
The Lord’s house is not a building, not the temple or the church structure. His house is the place where He rules and reigns, the place where His family dwells. That word, “zeal” is defined “great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective.”
So, do I have zeal for the Lord, for His Kingdom and His people… for the work and folks of my own church? Consuming zeal?
As you think about your answer, let these synonyms for the word “zeal” roll through your mind: Passion, ardor, love, fervor, fire, avidity, devotion, enthusiasm, eagerness, keenness, appetite, relish, gusto, vigor, energy, intensity, fanaticism…
Feeling challenged?
