Good morning!
Text: Numbers 4-6; Psalm 29
The Law of Moses, contained in the first five books of the Bible, is full of “do this” and “do not do that” commandments. It can sound harsh. But Numbers 6:24-26 brings a blessing that reveals God’s heart for His people.
The Lord bless you and keep you;the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
These are beautiful words. In His upward calling to holiness is His desire that we receive His bountiful blessings, His protection over us, His joyful good pleasure, His grace (unmerited favor), and peace. The best part is that these are the Lord’s words, commanded to be proclaimed over His people. And they are the blessings by which He wants His people to be known.
“So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”
Today, we are not under the Law, but under grace. But we are His people, and His heart for you and for me is the same as He speaks into these words of blessing. May your day be so blessed today.
in Him, Mike
