Good morning!

Text:  Deuteronomy 11-13; Psalm 43
When I flew helicopters in the Navy, one of the missions we had was search and rescue.  When pilots went down, or there was a report of a vessel in distress, we would be sent to help if we could. In some cases, lives were saved from the cruel sea or from a desert island.  When I read the words of Psalm 43:3, they resonate with that experience:

Send out your light and your truth;
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy hill
and to your dwelling!

Imagine that when we are in need, the Lord, by the command of His powerful word, sends light and truth.  Imagine light and truth winging their way out to us from God’s throne in heaven.  And when they arrive, they fetch us home to the Lord.  Safe and sound… rescued.  What a picture to hold in our minds when we are in a trial, in need, fearful or desolate.  When we cry out to Him, the light and truth will be on their way.  And rescue is ours.
in Him, Mike
