Good morning!
Text:  Leviticus 19-21;  Proverbs 16:17-33
We live in a culture of progress, where every day we read of new ideas, scientific discoveries and technological innovations.  Yesterday many of us spent the day without electricity or internet due to a storm. I, for one, was thrown way off my game.  Just think, only been about twenty five years ago loss of internet access would not have changed our day much at all.  Living in such times of change, it has become common thinking that old things are obsolete… to include older people.  That said, consider these words:

“You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 19:32)

Our elders are to be revered and respected.  They have the wisdom that only comes from life lived. They have walked through difficulty and victory.  They have walked with the Lord.  Old is not obsolete.  Rather, old is wise, valuable, priceless even.  When we disrespect and disregard our elders, we cut off the flow of wisdom that God has given.  Do you suppose the rise of folly in our culture has something to do with this matter?  I know I need to do more to honor our senior saints. How about you?
in Him, Mike
