Good morning!
Text: Acts 7-9; Proverbs 10:17-32
In Acts 7 we read of the first Christian to be martyred for his faith, Stephen. Stephen delivers a courageous and confrontational speech to the ruling council. His words are all true, and they are outraged. Just before he is stoned to death he is given this from the Lord:
But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” (Acts 7:55-56)
Do you ever wonder what it will be like to die? I do. Jesus says that His followers will never “taste” death. This vision of Stephen’s helps us to envision that idea. Imagine being received by Jesus. Did you notice that Jesus is standing? The reception will be wonderful for those who who have pleased Him.
