Good morning!
Text: Revelation 15-16; Isaiah 63
Merry Christmas! I hope your celebrations are blessed and joyous.
Today’s readings, both from Isaiah and Revelation, might seem out of step with Christmas. They are visions of harsh judgments and destructive wrath – the end of the things of this world. Yet, the joy of Christmas is because in fact Jesus came to deliver us from these painful and awful scenes . He bore God’s wrath so we won’t have to. The beauty of His love appears in Isaiah 63:7:
I will recount the steadfast love of the Lord,
the praises of the Lord,
according to all that the Lord has granted us,
and the great goodness to the house of Israel
that he has granted them according to his compassion,
according to the abundance of his steadfast love.
As we gather around this day, exchanging gifts, eating great feasts and sharing Christmas joy, may we all be blessed by the love of our Savior and our King. Thank you, Jesus for coming and saving us. Merry Christmas.
in Him, Mike
