Good morning!
Text: Revelation 11-12; Isaiah 61
Very cool reading today. Isaiah 61 opens with the verses Jesus taught in the “grand opening” of His earthly ministry in His hometown synagogue (see Luke 4:14-21). And, Revelation 11-12 feature beautiful images as the seventh trumpet heralds the start of the final victories of Jesus over evil. In Isaiah 61:10, the jubilant mood is captured:
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord;my soul shall exult in my God,for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation;he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
I read this verse aloud to open wedding ceremonies. One of the great celebration moments in our earthly lives is the wedding banquet. When Jesus’ returns and ushers in His glorious, eternal Kingdom, we will be at the wedding supper – as the bride. That wedding celebration will surpass all others. There is so much to rejoice about in Jesus and in the knowledge that we are His. Amen.
