Good morning!
Text: Zechariah 13-14; Isaiah 53
This chapter of Isaiah is clearly prophecy about Jesus (Isaiah was written around 700 B.C.). We read parts of this every communion Sunday. Verse 5 is powerful:
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
By Jesus’ death He absorbed God’s wrath for our sins (iniquities). His death made our forgiveness possible – and that forgiveness brings us peace. We have peace with God. We have peace within as we are free from guilt, shame and the fear of death. And the love we have received enables us to be at peace with one another. Hail the heaven born Prince of Peace!
in Him, Mike
