Good morning!

Today is a reflection day.
Isaiah 40 is amazing and beautiful.  Words of comfort and words of promise lead to words of reassurance.  The last verse is an anchor for us all when we get weary or discouraged:

they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

Our vigor and our strength comes not from our efforts or plans, but our dependence.   Simple, right? But never easy.  Our flesh cries out to us to take action, to do something.  Instead of “Don’t just sit there, do something,” our life will only be powerful when we “Don’t just do something, but wait for God.” The promise of this Word is clear – wait for God and He will renew your strength.
Last week we watched a bald eagle out our living room window.  The magnificent bird flew by and then landed in a tall hemlock on the far side of the lake.  After a bit, the eagle took to flight.  It was amazing to see his great wings extend as he launched from the branch.  Power, strength and beauty…  that’s us when we wait upon the Lord.
in Him, Mike
