Good morning!
Text: Jeremiah 31-33; Isaiah 21
When things look hopeless, when it is very bleak, Jeremiah punctuates his difficult words of prophecy (“you bought this mess upon yourself”) with reminders of great hope. That hope is to be found in the Lord and in the plans He has for our future:
Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance,
and the young men and the old shall be merry.
I will turn their mourning into joy;
I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow. (Jeremiah 31:13)
When we are in the dark times, the times of difficulty, grief, pain, fear and despair, we can know that our great God has a beautiful future prepared for us. When we are in mourning and sorrow, the Lord has promised that dancing, merriment, joy and gladness await us.
