Text: 1 John 1-3; Isaiah 30
Years ago, when my wife Lyn and I were brand new Christians, we were in a small group where a woman offered this verse to Lyn as a verse to live by:
And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. (Isaiah 30:21)
To the ears of a new believer, the concept here is astonishing. Instead of being some big, grand and faraway God, our Lord is right with us leading and guiding our lives. He wants us to know His will, and He wills that we obey Him. In the life of the believer, the Holy Spirit is indeed dwelling within us so we are never alone, never without a guide. He actually speaks to us. The voice is there saying “This is the way, walk in it.” So the question for today is, “Am I listening?” Are you?
