Good morning!

Text:  Jeremiah 43-46; Isaiah 25

As we read these two great Old Testament prophets, much of what they say is stormy and ominous.  It is the role of the prophet to speak for God in ways that get the people’s attention.  Not all of it is dark and gloomy, however, as God’s wonderful promises always break through the storm clouds to bring bright rays of hope.  How about these words from Isaiah 25:8?

He will swallow up death forever;
and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the Lord has spoken.

The challenge each day is to keep this blessed hope in view.  Our troubles right now, however deep and long they may seem, are but brief and momentary.  Beyond the gray skies above is glorious sunshine.  After the darkest night is a brilliant dawn.  The Word of God proclaims that our future is life forever, never a tear, and no shame – and this will be true over all the earth.

Paradise.  Beauty. Joy. Glory!  “The Lord has spoken”, and so it will absolutely, certainly come to pass.

in Him,  Mike
