Good morning!

Text: Genesis 6-9; Psalm 3
The Lord brings a flood upon the earth, an event of divine and appropriate judgement on sinful humanity.  In His mercy, He extends grace to one family – Noah’s – and eight humans are given a second chance.  After the flood, the Lord God establishes His covenant with all people that there will never be another such flood.  And He set the rainbow as the mark of that covenant:
I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. (Genesis 9:13)
Our great God is a God of promises – of covenants.  And He is faithful – He keeps every single one.  I cannot wait to see my next rainbow that I might be reminded of this truth. Meanwhile, we are surrounded by visible signs of His grace and mercy.  Restored relationships, healed people, joyful ones who have once known only sorrow, newborn children, even the sunrise every morning – these all attest to God’s kindness and faithfulness.  Look for some signs today, and you will see what I mean.
in Him, Mike
