Good morning!

Text:  Ezekiel 20-23; Psalm 123-124
Ezekiel, writing at the onset of the Babylonian captivity, gets very harsh toward Israel and Judah in these passages.  As is common in the writings of the prophets, he also includes the promise of the future restoration, that glorious future event:

As a pleasing aroma I will accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered. And I will manifest my holiness among you in the sight of the nations. (Ezekiel 20:41)

Think of all the “pleasing aromas” that come to mind – perhaps a savory dish being prepared, maybe a particular flower or a fresh breeze carrying the scent of newly mowed grass or the sea.  Pleasing aromas make all of our being pleased.  Now, imagine the Lord’s pleasure at receiving His people into His Kingdom.  And that will include you and me, if we are in Christ Jesus.
in Him, Mike
