Good morning!

Text: 1 Samuel 26-28; Proverbs 28:15-28
In 1 Samuel 28 we read how King Saul, frustrated by warfare against the Philistines, consults a medium to summon Samuel’s spirit from the dead.  Samuel asks him why he would do such a thing, and Saul replies:
“I am in great distress, for the Philistines are warring against me, and God has turned away from me and answers me no more, either by prophets or by dreams. Therefore I have summoned you to tell me what I shall do.” (1 Samuel 28:15)
Saul is no longer able to hear the voice of the Lord.  Why would that be?  Samuel tells him:

“Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord…” (28:18)

We can find ourselves unable to find the answers, lacking wisdom and insight, and with dry and feeble prayer encounters with God.  For Saul, God’s voice fell silent because of Saul’s disobedience – his sin.  The same is true for us all.  When we harbor sin on our lives, our communication channel with the Lord goes silent.  Fortunately for us, the line can open right back up with our repentant prayer to Him.  Feeling detached from the Lord?  Maybe there is some disobedience in your life, some sin you need to give to Him that you might hear His voice again.
